Opening of the Finals of the 2025 Power Industry Overhead Transmission Line Intelligent Operation and Inspection Innovation Skills Competition

On September 19th, the finals of the innovative skills competition for intelligent operation and maintenance of overhead transmission lines in the power industry opened in Taizhou, Jiangsu. This competition was organized by the China Electricity Council and undertaken by State Grid Corporation of China, with the co-organization of State Grid Taizhou Power Supply Company and the Wuhan Branch of China Electric Power Research Institute Co., Ltd. It attracted over 450 contestants from 95 teams from various power grid companies to compete.

The competition, themed "Intelligent Operation and Maintenance, Innovation-Driven, Skill for the Nation," aims to thoroughly implement the new national energy security strategy, promote the digital and intelligent transformation of transmission line operation and maintenance, and comprehensively enhance the safe operation level of the power grid and the professional quality of talent. Jiang Yufeng, member of the Party Committee of the China Electricity Council, Han Shui, former Chief Engineer of the National Energy Administration and Supervisor of the China Energy Research Society, and relevant officials from the Equipment Management Department of State Grid Corporation of China and State Grid Taizhou Power Supply Company attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches.

In his speech, Jiang Yufeng pointed out that overhead transmission lines, as the "arteries" of the power grid, their intelligent operation and maintenance level is directly related to the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the power grid. This competition has advanced the pace of digital transformation and intelligent upgrading in the field of overhead transmission line operation and maintenance, and has built a platform for industry innovation and exchange, and selection of high-skilled talent. He expressed hope that the competition will continue to promote the power spirit of "loyalty and responsibility, pragmatism and innovation, pursuit of excellence, and dedication to light," making skills competitions an "engine" for technological innovation and a "ladder" for talent growth, and making "achieving success in one's post and serving the nation with skills" an industry trend. This competition is held simultaneously in two competition zones, with a large number of participants, complex and diverse competition items, and high organizational difficulty. All relevant units should cooperate closely, organize in an orderly manner, ensure fairness and impartiality, and complete the competition work with high standards.

This competition adopts a "two-location competition" model, with the main venue in Taizhou, Jiangsu, and a sub-venue at the State Grid UHV AC Test Base in Wuhan. It covers four competition tracks: intelligent inspection, intelligent detection, live-line maintenance, and de-energized maintenance. The competition not only focuses on practical technical skills but also emphasizes the comprehensive display of teamwork and innovation capabilities, fully assessing the contestants' technical application and innovation abilities in practical environments.

This competition is an important measure for the power industry to promote the intelligent transformation of overhead transmission line operation, maintenance, and repair models and to accelerate the training of professional talent.
